    Cinema as a Transmitter of Content: Perceptions of Future Spanish Teachers for Motivating Learning

    In recent decades, the diverse changes produced have accelerated the relationships regulated by media. Cinema was able to bring together moving image and sound for the first time, and as a result of its audiovisual nature, it is a particularly suitable resource for motivation in education. In this light, the teacher’s perception for its application in its initial formal stage is highly relevant. The main objective of our research, therefore, has been to analyze the perceptions of cinema as a didactic resource for the transmission of content in preschool and primary education by students who are studying to become teachers themselves. The sample was composed of 4659 students from Spanish universities, both public and private. In addition to this, the PECID questionnaire was elaborated ad hoc and a comparative ex post facto design was adopted. The result showed that over 87% of students recognized the diverse educational potentialities of cinema, with motivation being an important factor. Furthermore, significant differences were found in perceptions according to different factors such as the type of teacher training degree, the Autonomous Community in which the student studied, as well as film consumption habits. On the basis of these results, future application of cinema needs to be applied using the different potentialities detected in our study

    Academic training in Spanish universities for the didactic use of cinema in pre-school and primary education

    One of the characteristic features of current society is the relevance of technology and audiovisual media. This fact has generated demands in the educational field to adapt objectives and methodologies to non-textual languages. Among the predominant audiovisual media is the cinema, which has many potentialities as a didactic resource. Therefore, the aim of this study was to find out the training that students of the Teacher's Degree in Spanish universities receive for the didactic use of cinema through a nationwide research with survey design in which 4659 students, belonging to all the Autonomous Communities and 58 universities, participated. The questionnaire called Perceptions about the potentialities of cinema as a didactic resource in pre-school and primary classrooms (PECID) was designed ad hoc. This questionnaire, which consists of 45 items, has a section that deals with the training received for the educational use of cinema. The Spanish universities offering the Teacher Degree were identified and contacted for the dissemination of the questionnaire. The results obtained showed that 88.4% had not received training. Furthermore, 250 subjects were identified in which film content is taught, mostly in the second and third year and in the area of Didactics and School Organization. It was also found that the most frequent activities carried out are the viewing of films with individual answers to questions and the film forum. This pioneering study in Spain aims to provide information as a basis for further academic training in cinema as a resource of high educational value

    La utilización del campus virtual como herramienta de aprendizaje en los estudiantes universitarios : aportaciones derivadas de su aplicación práctica

    En este trabajo exponemos la investigación sobre el uso y la valoración de la plataforma telemática de la Universidad de Alicante, llamada Campus Virtual, que sirve como instrumento interactivo de información y formación en los estudios universitarios de esta Universidad. En principio, el uso de dicha plataforma está generalizado entre la comunidad universitaria pero cabe investigar acerca de su uso real y valoración, en este caso por parte del alumnado. En esta aportación queremos presentar los resultados de una primera muestra en asignaturas que impartimos en la titulación de Magisterio.In this paper we present a research work on the use and assessment of the telematic platform of the University of Alicante, called Campus Virtual, that serves as an information and education interactive tool for the university studies in this University. In principle, the usage of this platform is spread among the university community but it is important to study further about its real use and assessment, in this case, by the students.     Cinematographic Habits of Future Spanish Teachers from a Socio-Educational Perspective

    One of the key features of today′s society is the role of technology and mass-media. Among these tools, cinema has influenced successive generations more than 100 years. From an educational point of view, it is a resource of high pedagogical value. Moreover, it is present in the daily life of university students who will be the future teachers. Therefore, the aim of this study is to find out the film consumption habits of students in the teacher′s degree in Spanish universities. A quantitative approach was adopted with a survey design, and the national sample was made up of 4659 students. They ware from the different regions of Spain and 58 universities. The questionnaire called Percepciones sobre las potencialidades del cine como recurso didáctico en las aulas de Infantil y Primaria (PECID) was designed ad hoc for this research. The results obtained showed that most students have a weekly habit of consuming films, with fiction being the most popular type of film. Likewise, the viewing of films is preferably done through television and the computer. It can be concluded that this familiarity with cinema outside the university should be complemented with specific training in the teacher′s degree. In this sense, it contributes to an optimal application of cinema

    The Pedagogical Model of Hybrid Teaching: Difficulties of University Students in the Context of COVID-19

    The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has led to changes in many areas, with educational scenarios being affected. In this sense, university education has undergone significant changes owing to the impossibility of following the fully face-to-face mode of teaching. Given this situation, the general objective of this study is to analyze the university educational scenario in the context of COVID-19 and, more specifically, to identify the difficulties perceived by students. Using a mixed quantitative–qualitative methodological approach, an ad hoc questionnaire was designed, and data were collected from a sample of 238 students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching during the 2020/2021 academic year. The results obtained have shown that students have experienced numerous difficulties in adapting to the hybrid teaching model. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the decrease in motivation, the feeling of loneliness, technical connection problems, and less interaction with the teaching staff and other students. The degree of satisfaction with the teaching received is also moderate. As a conclusion, it can be stated that the difficulties identified recommend the introduction of actions to improve the application of the teaching model implemented in favor of university excellence.This research was funded by the Vice-Rectorate for Quality and Educational Innovation of the University of Alicante, Networks-I3CE Program for Research in University Teaching (BOUA: 02/11/2020), and the APC was funded by Education Sciences Institute (ESI)

    A Bibliometric Study on the Use of Virtual Reality (VR) as an Educational Tool for High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Children

    The use of virtual reality (VR) as an educational tool for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) children is a research field that started some 20 years ago. ASD is associated with deficiencies in communication and social interaction, as well as restricted and repetitive behavioural patterns, according to the fifth edition of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5). By using the ISI Web of Knowledge as the reference data basis, we perform a bibliometric study of the use of VR as an educational tool for high-functioning ASD children. By this study we can quantify, on the one hand, the up to day importance of the different types of VR applied to this field: immersive or non-immersive, as well as the use of human or agent avatars. On the other hand, we can also differentiate amongst those interventions that work on emotional and social competences. The analysis of periods of research scarce, research abundance and research trends provides a dynamic view of the strategies used in this field in the last 20 years and suggests future lines of research

    ICT in the educational context through scientific production in Spanish

    Las diversas reformas educativas a nivel nacional e internacional han ido abogando por la inclusión de la tecnología como recurso significativo en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje. El objetivo del presente estudio es realizar un análisis bibliométrico de la producción científica en español sobre la inclusión de las TIC en el contexto educativo. La búsqueda de documentos se realizó en la ISI Web of Knowledge a partir de la pestaña de búsqueda avanzada. Tras aplicar los términos de búsqueda se obtuvieron 154 documentos que fueron analizados en función de una serie de indicadores. Los resultados obtenidos indican que el periodo de 2015-2017 fue el más prolijo y en el que se generó el mayor número de citas. El trabajo realizado pone en valor la gran importancia que tienen las revistas científicas en la publicación y difusión de investigaciones sobre las TIC en educación.Various national and international educational reforms have been advocating the inclusion of technology as a significant resource in teaching-learning processes. The aim of this study is to carry out a bibliometric analysis of scientific production in Spanish on the inclusion of ICT in the educational context. The documents were searched in the ISI Web of Knowledge using the advanced search tab. After applying the search terms, 154 documents were obtained and analyzed according to a series of indicators. The results obtained indicate that the 2015-2017 period was the most prolix and the one that generated the greatest number of citations. The work carried out highlights the great importance of scientific journals in the publication and dissemination of research on ICTs in education

    Scientific mapping on Autism Spectrum Disorder in education through intellectual, social and conceptual analysis

    En las sociedades actuales es cada vez mayor el número de alumnado con Necesidades Específicas de Apoyo Educativo existente en nuestras aulas. En los últimos años se ha detectado una presencia cada vez mayor de alumnado con Trastorno del Espectro Autista. Por ello, se plantea como objetivo analizar la evolución de la producción científica sobre el trastorno del espectro autista utilizando la aproximación bibliométrica del mapeado científico a partir del estudio de la estructura intelectual, social y conceptual durante el período 1969-2021. Se realizó una búsqueda mediante la base de datos Web of Science y se establecieron los términos de búsqueda con ERIC y Thesaurus. De manera que tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión se obtuvieron 951 documentos. Los resultados muestran que desde el punto de vista temático tanto la intervención temprana como la intervención con nuevas metodologías como las TIC son los tópicos actuales que se están trabajando en el campo. Asimismo, las revistas se agrupan en función de tres líneas de publicación: psicología, educación especial, Educación y Tecnología. Finalmente, APA (2013) y APA (2000) junto con Horner et al., (2005) son los documentos en torno a los cuales se agrupan las redes de co-citación de documentos. Como futuras líneas de trabajo, se plantean la posibilidad de utilizar otros software de análisis que complemente la información obtenida.In today's societies there is an increasing number of students with Specific Educational Support Needs in our classrooms. In recent years, an increasing presence of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder has been detected. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the evolution of scientific production on autism spectrum disorder using the bibliometric approach of scientific mapping based on the study of the intellectual, social and conceptual structure during the period 1969-2021. A search was carried out using the Web of Science database and the search terms were established using ERIC and Thesaurus. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 951 documents were obtained. The results show that from a thematic point of view both early intervention and intervention with new methodologies such as ICT are the current topics being worked on in the field. Also, the journals are grouped according to three lines of publication: psychology, special education, Education and Technology. Finally, APA (2013) and APA (2000) together with Horner et al., (2005) are the documents around which the document co-citation networks are grouped.     La acción tutorial como acompañamiento en el alumnado universitario con discapacidad: hacia una educación inclusiva

    The current situation of disability analyzed from the university regulatory framework give us a starting point to achieve an inclusive education. The current Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April (LOMLOU) establishes in its Preamble the promotion of active policies to guarantee equal opportunities for people with disabilities. The twenty-fourth additional provision under the title of the inclusion of persons with disabilities in universities presents a series of preliminary considerations for the elaboration of plans for persons with special educational needs. These considerations would go to the fulfillment of precepts such as: equality of opportunities, non-discrimination, provision of resources and support, accessibility and diversity training. Turning the educational environments characterized as disabling in inclusive is a complicated but not impossible task that in the present moment we can not stop solving by the presence of the disability in the university context. The objective of this research has been to design a system of indicators as an evaluation tool that determines personal and contextual variables that can help or difficult the inclusion of university students. The results of the system of indicators developed show how from the tutorial action can be carried out a list of accompanying actions that can produce the inclusion of university students with disabilities. We conclude with a bet for the tutorial action as a tool that will cover in this students a greater academic follow-up. It will produce an improvement of the quality of their performance and in an academic professional orientation for the attention to their personal project.La situación actual de la discapacidad desde el marco normativo universitario nos depara un marco legislativo esperanzador por la apuesta hacia una educación inclusiva. La actual Ley Orgánica 4/2007, de 12 de abril (LOMLOU) establece en su Preámbulo el impulso de políticas activas para garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades a las personas con discapacidad. La disposición adicional vigésima cuarta, bajo el título de de la inclusión de las personas con discapacidad en las universidades presenta una serie de consideraciones previas para la elaboración de planes destinados a las personas con necesidades educativas especiales. Estas consideraciones irían al cumplimiento de preceptos como: igualdad de oportunidades, la no discriminación, provisión re decursos y apoyos, accesibilidad y una formación en la diversidad. Convertir los entornos educativos caracterizados como discapacitantes en inclusivos es una tarea complicada pero no imposible que en el momento actual no podemos dejar de resolver por la presencia de la discapacidad en el contexto universitario. El objetivo de este Trabajo ha sido diseñar un sistema de indicadores como herramienta de evaluación que determine variables personales y contextuales que pueden favorecer o dificultar la inclusión del estudiante universitario. Los resultados del sistema de indicadores desarrollado constatan como desde la acción tutorial se pueden llevar a cabo una serie de actuaciones de acompañamiento que favorecerían la inclusión del estudiante universitario con discapacidad. Concluimos con una apuesta por la acción tutorial que cubrirá en este alumnado un mayor seguimiento académico que redunde en la mejora de la calidad de su rendimiento y en una orientación académico-profesional para la atención a su proyecto personal
